Helping you build a healthier life, one plate at a time.

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m the recipe developer, photographer, and voice behind The Good Habit.

If you’re here because you want to eat better but feel like you simply don’t have the time, I promise you: I have been there.

My Story: From Burnout to Balance

For years, I worked a demanding corporate job that left me drained. My definition of “cooking” was reheating takeout containers or scrambling eggs at 9 PM. I wanted to be healthy, but the wellness world felt overwhelming. I thought that to be “healthy,” I had to shop at expensive specialty stores, cook for three hours a day, and never touch a carb again.

The breaking point came when I realized I was spending more time stressing about food than actually enjoying it. My fridge was a graveyard of wilted spinach I swore I’d eat, and my energy levels were at an all-time low.

Finding “The Good Habit”

I decided to stop overcomplicating it. I stopped trying to overhaul my entire life overnight and focused on just one good habit: cooking a real dinner, three times a week.

I started experimenting in my small kitchen, testing recipes that were:

  • Fast: Because nobody has time for 2-hour prep on a Tuesday.
  • Accessible: Using ingredients found at a regular grocery store.
  • Nourishing: Focusing on whole foods, lean proteins, and vibrant vegetables without sacrificing flavor.

That small shift changed everything. It wasn’t just about the food; it was about the ritual of caring for myself. That journey inspired me to launch this blog to help others do the same.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is the resource I wish I had when I started. It is built on three core beliefs:

  1. Healthy doesn’t mean boring. If a salad doesn’t taste good, you won’t eat it. My recipes are tested multiple times to ensure they pack a punch of flavor.
  2. Perfection is the enemy of good. You don’t need to be a professional chef to make a nutritious meal. My recipes are forgiving and designed for real home cooks.
  3. Sustainability over trends. You won’t find fad diets here. You’ll find balanced meals that fuel your body for the long haul.

A Few Fun Facts About Me

  • My weak spot: I can never say no to a good piece of dark chocolate.
  • Favorite kitchen tool: My trusty air fryer—it saved my weeknight dinners!
  • Current goal: trying to master the perfect sourdough loaf (it’s a work in progress!).
